Global Traveller Tribal patterns, ethnic designs and a lashings of animal print make this trend a whole lot of fun. At Burberry, models were clashed head to toe in array of colourful dresses and tops whilst Michael Kors made a statement with big cat spotted dresses. Start mixing those prints together, if you’re feeling brave enough! |

Sports Luxe With the Olympics fast approaching it makes perfect sense that track pants, cycling shorts, chevron stripes and even rucksacks are all winning looks for SS12. For an easy nod to the trend, get yourself an anorak. Simply zip up and wear with everything for a fabulously relaxed look. |

Pastels This spring’s palette is one of ice cream parlour shades, think spearmint green, parma violet, lemon sherbet and damask for a striking, yet subtle way to work colour this season. Style wise, try colour blocking the tones like Phillip Lim and Prada or chose your favourite hue and go for it head to toe a la Dolce and Dior. |

Technicolour While we're appreciating the pastels for SS12 there's still room for some fabulous brights on the mix too. Look out for cobalt, coral, fuchsia and canary for a more vibrant take on colour. Try clashing them up for a real catwalk look or alternatively go for an eye popping accessory for a gentle nod to the trend. |

1920s With the remake of The Royal Gatsby classic the catwalks have gone mad for 1920s detailing. Fringing, beading and tasseling created drama at Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Etro. It’s without doubt the most glamorous evening trend to buy into for the summer months. Too much? Try a feathered bag with an LBD for an instant 1920s feel. |

Peplum As for silhouettes in SS12 it is all about the peplum. The catwalks celebrated the waist with amazing frilled details on skirts, tops and dresses. Luckily though, it’s extremely flattering and a clever way to disguise problem tummies. Look out for a peplum pencil skirt for an easy, sophisticated way to work the trend. |

White White is a perennial fave and this seasons interpretation is nothing but clean lines and sleek tailoring. Celine, Jil Sander and Paul Smith showcased streamline silhouettes in brilliant white and there are so many amazing pieces already out on the high street. Try a crisp white shirt and a pair of slim white denims just like the fashionistas. |

1950s Another era to get familiar with right now is 1950s USA. Everything from cool cats eye sunglasses to Prada's muscle-car prints show the fun side of retro Americana. At Proenza Schouler and Dolce and Gabbana prom dresses were also big news and these are the ones to watch out for this summer party season. |

Florals Florals don't just one guise this spring, they come in every shape and size. From beaded bunches at Valentino to mismatching blooms at Erdem and even monochrome designs at Louis Vuitton, there's a little something for everyone. Ease yourself in to the trend with a floral blouse; it will give an instant edge to denims. |

Paisley Another print to familiarise yourself with is paisley. The swirling shape took centre stage at Stella, Jil Sander and YSL in anything from silk pyjamas to floorsweeping maxis. Take the plunge with a summery shirt dress and add a wedge heel for extra oomph. |

If you wore it the first time around, don’t wear it again. Whether it’s midi’s, mini’s or even sky-high platforms, the usual rule of thumb is that it should only be worn once every lifetime. Don’t worry though if a trend lasts for three seasons or more, like waist belts, it tends to diffuse to a level that most ages can wear them again. |
Start form the inside out. No matter how fantastic an outfit is, if you have the wrong underwear, it’s going to look like a car crash. Try going for a free bra fitting at any Debenhams store and find out your correct size. Over 70% of women wear the wrong bra size and that four boob look is never a good one. |
Try and balance your figure. This may sound complicated but a perfect example is a simple pair of wide leg trousers. These create a similar width on your ankles to your hips and shoulders, giving your figure a column effect, or in other words taking a stone of your weight. Happy days I hear you girls cry! |
Always have a great LBD. The little black dress is an essential friend to any girl’s wardrobe, whatever season. Be it dinner, drinks, hot date or even a parent’s night, it can be dressed up and dressed down. |
Beware invisible lines We all know horizontal stripes aren’t the most flattering, what we sometimes forget though is horizontal lines can be created by using the wrong accessories. For example, a choker on a short neck will add pounds and make you look squat, and ankle straps on your beautiful tootsies can turn those ankles into cankles. |
The must-have jean The bootcut jean is always going to be the most flattering and is an absolute classic. It works in a similar way to the wide leg trouser and magics those pounds away. Recently we’ve seen the skinny jean make a come back. If this fills you with horror, fear not, you can always wear the straight cut, similar to the skinny but not as extreme. |
Fitted rather than oversized If you’re not entirely happy with your figure there’s always the temptation to wear oversized clothing, you may feel it’s hiding a multitude of sins, but in actual fact it’s piling on the pounds. Something fitted, or tailored, (not tight) will show off your best bits and disguise your misdemeanours. |
Less is more Ok well lucky you, you have great legs and great boobs, but there’s a fashion rule for ladies like you. Showing off both at once will turn you from the catwalk beauty that everyone talks about, to the ‘girl’ everyone just talks about. |
Elongate your shape I’ve already spoken about invisible lines being unflattering for your figure but the opposite can be said for lines working horizontally down your figure. Try using skinny scarves or long length necklaces to elongate your figure. |
Chic and Unique Everyone has got loads of black in their wardrobe, but have you every thought about teaming it with navy or brown? They may not sound like a marriage made in heaven, but I can promise you they are. Dior and YSL have been using them since the 1950s, so take a leaf out of their book and ooze serious elegance. |
